Exhibit Design

James Freed Design is an educational exhibit design firm with two decades of experience in the field. I design immersive educational environments for museums, park visitor centers, science centers and special events. I can work as part of your team, or assemble a group of exhibit design professionals to match your project. I enjoy and specialize in helping to bring your vision to life.

Services include: Content development, Conceptual through Final Design phase drawings, Illustration, Interior Architectural Design, Project Management, Fabrication and Installation Oversight, and Scale models.

Illustration provides images that are associated with a specific text or idea. Much of my recent illustration work has been created for exhibit project graphics, but I also have created art for catalog covers, children’s books, posters, beverage labels and more. I’m happy to provide quotes for illustration projects. I can work in pencil, pen and ink, watercolor, colored markers, or gouache.

Fine Art

I also enjoy painting landscapes and figurative work in both oils and watercolor. Original artwork and museum quality giclée prints are available for purchase. If interested in a painting or print, please send me a message via the contact page.

Have you always wanted to paint a landscape or draw a scene while out on a hike? Do you like color and drawing materials, but are just not sure how to get started? Would you like to capture the effects of light and shadow on the landscape, with vibrancy and realism, in your own drawing or painting? One or more of my Workshops may be a good fit for you! I have been teaching art and design at the Academy of Art University for over 20 years. I thoroughly enjoy helping students at all levels to improve their skills, increase their artistic confidence, and reach their creative potential.

Classes offered: Introduction to Landscape Painting in Oils, Perspective Drawing For Artists, and Creating an Illustrated Field Journal
